Neapolitan Pizza:

It is one of the most popular one, also known as the original pizza. This delicious pie has a history that dates all the way back to the 18th century Naples, Italy. During this time, the citizens of this seaside city frequently purchased food that was affordable and could be eaten quickly. Luckily for them, Neapolitan pizza – a flatbread topped with tomatoes, oil, and garlic – was cheap and easily available through numerous street vendors.

Chicago Pizza:

Chicago Pizza is also popularly known as the deep-dish pizza. This pie is named after the city it was first discovered in. During the early 1900s, Italian immigrants in the windy city were searching for something similar to the Neapolitan pizza that they coveted. Instead of mimicking the thin pie, Ike Sewell decided to do something different. He created a pizza with a thick crust that had raised edges, similar to a pie. He also added a twist to the ingredients, he added them in reverse. The slices of mozzarella lined the dough, followed by meat, vegetables and then topped all of it with a can of crushed tomatoes. In the Chicago style pie, the toppings are not on the top, they are hidden under a layer of tomato sauce which makes it all the more irresistible.

New York Style Pizza:

Although it is not exactly an original, the New York Style pizza has become one of the most popular and widespread choices in the United States. The Neapolitan and New York Pizza share some similarities but there are certain distinctive features. To make a proper New-York style pie, the crust needs to be thin like a Neapolitan, but thick enough to fold a slice in half lengthwise. Also, the New-York style pie can accommodate a wide range of toppings, unlike Neapolitan pizza.

Sicilian Pizza:

Sicilian pizza which is also known as sfincione. It is a square cut, thick crust pizza, it has a spongier consistency than other pizzas. It is typically topped with tomato sauce, onion, herbs, anchovies and is then covered with breadcrumbs.
